When we are sure bug 563318 has stuck on trunk, we should prepare to migrate Win2k users to the latest version of ESR when the train reaches release. If we are sure the number on FF > 4.0 is very low, we could punt on this.
Isn't this at odds with the point of the ESR?
I don't think we want to do this. It only buys those users 6 months and this is at odds with the purpose of ESR.
I think its longer than 6 months, in 18 weeks. Win2k users will be out of luck, but FF10 ESR will be alive 12 months from now. Its at odds with ESR in the sense that these are not enterprise users (well, not 100% clear either), but we would be dead-ending them and this allows for a softer landing.
You're right, it's more than 6 months. They will be unsupported when we ship Firefox 13, on June 5. Until then, they'll have a secure Firefox. ESR would give those of them that willingly migrated until February 2013. I don't think the numbers warrant the effort or the confusion around what ESR is. I'm doing some more digging on the numbers and it's looking disproportionately China an 3.6.x and 3.5.x which makes it an even less reachable audience. I don't think it's worth the hassle.

As per the original description, I think that is a valid reason for killing this bug.
From Asa's points in the newsgroup, primarily: 1) Most of these users are on 3.5/3.6 2) Its a relatively small number (less that FF 2.0 users for instance) I'm closing this out.
