Platform Decoders depend on getting the decoded data as YUV data. For some hardware we won't get the decoded data as YUV data; we will get it as some kind of overlay. To integrate this into Gecko as best we can, we'll need to modify the layers system to work with those overlays. The exact details of this depend on exactly what the hardware and APIs can do. A list of supported hardware will be added to this bug. From that list, we need to identify which hardware devices don't provide YUV data to the Platform Decoder.

I've been unable to get YUV data from Samsung Galaxy Note, Nexus S or Tab 10.1.
