When trying to access a PDF (eg the one above) with the Acrobat 5 plugin, it appears to load fine (the plugin in shown in about:plugins), it shows the splash screen for Acrobat Reader, but then nothing happens and the browser hangs, forcing a Ctrl-Alt-Del to kill the process. This is reproducable every time that I tried it.
hm ..what's your build-id ? Looks fine to me on today's trunk 0529. Maybe you are seeing bug 76892
Sorry, my build ID is 20010515 (the 0.9 release). I should have mentioned it.
My apologies, I've just tried the PDF at that URL and it loaded fine (if a bit slowly). The odd thing is that it was the same PDF that had been failing earlier when I tried it locally. That was why I picked that PDF since I had it locally as well as online. I'll try it again locally after I send this (in case it locks up again and I have to kill Mozilla) and if it works, then I'll assume that it was bug 76892 that was the problem.
I've just tried the local file and it does *not* display. It's the same as the one at the URL above if you want to download it and try it. I find that it seems to be working (in that the window doesn't seem to hang) until you click somewhere inside the window that you are loading the PDF in, then it seems to hang.
I noticed this behaviour too, but not with all pdfs.
there is a bug on 'pdf's not loading locally' ...i think..lemme see if i can find that one..
