found this while testing bug 75660. when there are no windows present, there are some commands that should work from the menubar. however, when i select File > Open File, the file picker doesn't launch [shouldn't it?]. tested using 2001.05.29.08 moz bits.
mac only.
Keywords: pp
Confirming using Mac/2001090508 and Mac/2001080214 (0.9.3). Neither File/Open from the menubar or Cmd-O summon the file dialog when no windows are open.

This is a really annoying bug. Cmd-Q doesn't work either when there are no windows. I think it should be fixed before 1.2.
It is already nominated for nsbeta1.

was this a duplicate of bug 36016? (fix checked in today)
No, this is a different problem. The problem here is that the 'Open File' command is being dispatched as it should, but nothing is being done in response.

Is there a js error? Does opening other windows/dialogs work?

Comment on attachment 171700 [details] [diff] [review] patch Could you provide a more detailed explanation for what you did here? I'm not following this.
Comment on attachment 171700 [details] [diff] [review] patch Looks good. I'd add a new line between the pref service and global string bundle code. With that, r=jhpedemonte.
