This bug will track all the UI layout and flow changes that we proposed and demoed in prototypes and mockups during the January 2013 work week. We should integrate accepted proposals (bugs that block this bug) into the v1 user story and dependency tree as soon as possible. As of January 28, the following proposals are sufficiently understood and agreed upon: - combine the non-tab toolbars into a single app bar (with the URL field, bookmark icon, etc.) at the bottom; - display overlay "back" and "plus" buttons. The following proposals still require more specification but are worth beginning work on: - by default, display the tabs only on the Firefox start screen, which is accessible by clicking/pressing the "plus" button; - when pressing the "plus" button, shrink the tab with an animation into a static thumbnail on the tab strip on the Firefox start screen. The display of the tabs in a non-default tabs-always-visible mode is still to be determined.

A blob of code I wrote hastily to demo what these changes might look like. I'm in the process of breaking it down and cleaning it up.

Hi Asa, 835623 is already linked to Bug 845152: Story - NewUI - Access and dismiss the new Firefox app bar. Can 835628 and 836017 be linked to 845152 as well?

(In reply to Marco Mucci [:MarcoM] from comment #2) > Hi Asa, 835623 is already linked to Bug 845152: Story - NewUI - Access and > dismiss the new Firefox app bar. > > Can 835628 and 836017 be linked to 845152 as well? Nope. Those two aren't necessarily v1 features whereas bug 835623 is.

I don't think there is any more need for this bug. Bug 836791 and bug 845137 more than sufficiently cover the desired bits for v1, and bug 836017 is a much more radical idea that is out of scope for now.
