See my comment in github. So long as marketplace remains as a preinstalled app on device, you will have a sane origin that can be relied upon.

Persona currently does not allow verifying against the app: scheme, so using Persona inside a packaged app is still presently impossible.

You're asking the wrong department.

We have a workaround for now (iframe fireplace) so let's stick with that for now.

All of the outstanding issues have been knocked out. There's one open bug (the sign in window never closes, but you get logged in behind the scenes), but ozten is working on pinning it down. That'll be tracked separately with the Persona guys. Aesthetics aside, you're able to sign in within a packaged app.
