A number of Metro tablets do not have Direct2D support. We should run the Metro tests with gfx.direct2d.disabled set to true (browser restart required) in order to better simulate those and catch any errors that would show up on such devices.
Bas, could you give us a better understanding as to what types of tablets don't have Direct2D support?

On another note, how do Windows 8 on tablet users get Firefox metro? Are we yet on the Microsoft marketplace? Do we know how many users we have?

Good question - I did mean this bug more as a preventative measure, to let us produce a version that runs on such tablets, rather than fixing an existing problem. Once we know what hardware fits into this category (Bas' need info), we could estimate what size of market it is and at least know how many potential users we're talking about.

Do we know how many users we have? We're talking x86 tablets. That's the only market we can get into, and those are not restricted by the marketplace. We're talking about all Atom based tablets at least, which are right now all blacklisted. But some other x86 tablets (or desktops) are bound to be blacklisted as well. I'll leave it up to other people to figure out what those are and
