How easily can we create per-host checks? It would be great to add them for slaves created as loaner machines as well.

We have the aws sanity check emails that go out daily. Is that insufficient here?

What's lacking with those e-mails is the ability to ack and/or have downtime. They're very difficult to process compared with Nagios alerts. It certainly makes this less urgent though, in my opinion.
