Hi Dietrich, we can build gaia in firefox extension if bug 956637 landed and I filed bug 935811 to integrate gaia-build into app manager.

Bug 935811 is only going to improve the usability, ease adding more device/simulator related features and make it more appealing. But the addon itself already exists and works!

It is just that we don't release any xpi. The addon source code is hosted in gaia git repo.
We may just spawn some builds of it somewhere and start beta testing it!

We need to practice this addon as we may run into compatiblity issues where the addon only works against a particular gaia revision...
You need a local checkout of gaia repo to use the addon, the addon only ships some bootstrap code that runs gaia js build scripts. We can also add some helper code that would fetch gaia code from github magic zip urls.
