Details
This bug is to track the following work that needs to happen for eMojo.
1. Add Composer, Address Book and IM items to the Start Menu on Windows.
For this to happen we have to wait for bug 92304 to get fixed work (otherwise
using those items will not work correctly)
2. Make it so that the icons next to each of these items and also the existing
ones i.e. Mail, Nav and Profile manager is the appropriate component icon (as
used in the taskbar) rather than the generic N icon
3. Rename the item Netscape 6 in the start menu Netscape 6 folder to Navigator.

fyi, the distinct component icons are ready to go for this.
Please keep me in the loop as to where these "distinct icons" will accessible
from, so the installer can use them.

Sean/Syd - could one of you take this bug because I'm not going to be able to do
this before leaving. It is important to do this for eMojo (once we get pchen's
fix for bug 92304).
Depends on: 92034
Target Milestone: mozilla0.9.4 → mozilla0.9.5

Fixing dependency bug typo
In addition to bug 92304 someone will have to add the new icons to the windows
resources in netscp6.exe (and mozilla.exe) before the short cuts can reference
them. If we had to I guess we could put raw .ico files in the res directory and
get them from there.

Need the icons to be available for the installer to reference, either compiled
into netscp6.exe resources or on disk as .ico files. Once that's done let the
install team know and we'll be able to reference these when we create the
desktop icons.

all of the necessary windows ico files are in bin/chrome/icons/default
(commercial tree only, of course, as we don't have mozilla icons yet). Giving
to ssu as I think he's the dude to handle this.

Is this bug tracking active eMojo work or are we punting on this? The bug looks
a bit stale to me as far as activity goes. Can we minus this?

If all the moving parts are known, and this is just a matter of switching out
some icons, thereby not impacting any L10N work, then I say we keep this in. If
any of that is untrue, then we should push it out.
ssu, what's the status?

I was waiting for when the icons were incorporated into a .dll or .exe file so
that the installer could easily reference them. I have not heard if this has
been done or not.
I could create shortcuts for aim, addressbook, and other components that have
been fixed to be able to be launched while the browser is running. But they
will not have their own distinct shortcut icon. They will all have the 'N'
icon.
If you don't care, let me know a and I can easily create the other shortcuts.

Who is going to create the .exe? We need to replace the current contents of the
Start Menu Programs folder with shortcuts to Navigator (using the N), Mail
(using the mail envelope icon), IM (using the IM icon), AddressBook (etc), and
Composer (etc). Don't we have the -mail, and -aim equivalents for Composer and
AddressBook that allow the user to launch the app from those shortcuts, opening
those components by default?

There's a bunch of icons thrown into bin/chrome/icons/defaults, but I don't know
if they're for this or not. Looks messy, they should probably be
bin/defaults/icons or bin/res/icons instead of in bin/chrome. If they're window
specific they aren't really chrome.
But I don't know if those are intended for this purpose.

There aren't any comments on this bug since the 18th of Sept. Can QA regess
against the Netscape commercial builds and determine if this is still a valid
bug? Please mark as nsbranch+ which will get this on the PDT radar if you think
this is critical and can give us an ETA for the fix. Else, mark is as nsbranch-.
Also, can someone comment in the bug how serious you think this is? PDT is only
accepting "stop ship" bugs at this point such as data loss, loss of major
functionality, regressions and bugs to the eMojo "stop ship" features.

cindy - there s nothing for QA to regress here if this is a new item to work
with Windows XP. The team and PDT have to decide if we want this feature to be
in or not.

This is a feature for all windows platforms, and it has not been implemented
yet. IMO, it is not a stop-ship for eMojo. Marking nsbranch-. We definitely
want to get this for the next release however.

Not sure why this was marked as a dupe of 116966; shouldn't this be reopened?
