*** Original post on bio 206 by DetroitLibertyPenguin <fulner AT gmail.com> at 2009-08-04 20:45:00 UTC *** I have several "Buddy's" which I have in multiple accounts, In my case i Have 2 AIM accounts, one personal, one work, and I have a few folks on both list. On Pidgin they show twice, and I can mouse over it to weither I'd be sending from my personal or work account. On instanbird, although both AIM accounts are logged in, I only see these buddies once. I have been unable to determine the constancy to which of my accounts will connect to said ScreenName until I actually enter. It should either show the names separately, as Pidgin does, or give you an option to say *Right Click* send as SN1, send as SN2
*** Original post on bio 206 at 2009-08-04 21:06:03 UTC *** We had already discussed this issue once on IRC. If I remember well we decided that: * The tooltip in the buddy list should show a list of all the accounts. * From conversation areas, it should be easy to know which account will be used to talk to the contact. (It should probably always be displayed by default) * From conversation areas, it should be easy to change the account you use to continue the conversation. And yes, it's probably a good idea too to make it easy from a context menu in the buddy list to choose which account will be used.

*** Original post on bio 206 by Cody "codeman38" Boisclair <cody AT zone38.net> at 2011-06-29 22:56:37 UTC *** Still present in version 1.0-- I cannot even find a way to send a message from my alternate account, short of disconnecting from my main account, starting the IM, and then reconnecting.

On the behalf of Florian: Closing bugs related to the Instantbird UI as WONTFIX, as the development of the standalone chat client Instantbird has stopped. Instantbird users are encouraged to migrate to Thunderbird. The user interface of instant messaging in Thunderbird will feel familiar, as the Thunderbird IM support started as a fork of Instantbird.
