The OSX address book integration - ( if you are geek enough to successfully navigate the hack in #1720257 ) now shows a single email address, and doesn't appear to auto-complete on the other addresses on the card. None of the other info in the card gets imported into Thunderbird.

STR - complete hack in bug# 1720257
Window -> AddressBook -> Mac OSX Address Book
In your OSX Address book find someone that you have two or more email addresses for
Click on any name - notice the single email address showing up, and no other info (it doesn't show the detail card that shows up in other address books).

I think this is a regression, despite bug# 461644(14 year old bug) in the old style address books I believe it was showing multiple email addresses but only 2. As shown in more recent conversation in bug# 118665 (21 years old bug) which I think suggests it was showing two addresses 2 year ago. I'm fuzzy on dates, because I never, unless there is a problem, actually open the Address Book window - why would I, when I've got a perfectly good OSX Address Book. I only looked this time because it failed to complete on an alternate email address for someone.

Note that bug#1188665 has been marked a duplicate of the more recent bug#469209 which comment 26 says won't fix the problem with only 2 addresses from OSX showing up, now regressed to only one :-(

Hey Mitra, are you able to have a look at Daily and check if Bug 1777156 makes a difference?
The autocomplete failure may well be Bug 1782481 territory, which I've just openened. The quickSearch queries haven't been updated yet.

I'm not used to running Daily or Nightlies ... so just to confirm this is what I did,
STR:

  • Running Beta 104.0b1: Tools -> Address Book -> Mac OSX Address book - confirm it shows the contacts correctly

  • Rename old ~/Library/Thunderbird

  • Download nightly (I presume that is what you meant by Daily) from ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/nightly - got the i10n version,

  • Installed - fresh install,

  • Weird it came up with a mix of English help text and Cyrillic menus ! Is that a bug or a feature ?

  • Deleted ~/Library/Thunderbird

  • Redownloaded - the en-US version !

  • Installed

  • Declined link to any email accounts as don't want to risk any bugs in the Nightly corrupting my email.

  • Tools -> AddressBook -> Mac OSX Address Book

No contacts are shown at all.

I also tried DAILY with Beta's ~/Library/Thunderbird which also didn't show contacts in the OSX Address book

At some point the DAILY bricked the Beta profile with a message about the profile having been previously opened by a different Thunderbird, and refuse to let me open it in either Daily or Beta. (Which - is why I'm reluctant to run Daily's, too high a chance of data loss).

This appears to have been fixed, at least its showing the two addresses again as of 114b01 though (15 year old) bug #461644 means it neither shows, nor do filters or autocomplete work on anything after the 2nd address in an entry :-(
