I do not see this feature publish data to the specific FTP server: Edit | Preferences | Roaming User X Enable remote profile storage HTTP / FTP Base URL ftp://ftp.machine.com/moz_roaming/ Username qwe X Save password Password ********** My proxy server shows no FTP activity, and no files appear in the subdirctory "moz_roaming" directory of user "qwe" on ftp.machine.com. A relaunch of Mozilla throws a error about unable to retrieve an empty file, then the startup proceeds using the local copies of the profile. Aside - Under Item Selection "Passwords (dangerous)" and "Fill Form Data" do not remain "checked" after a restart.

Please do not add comments to this bug. If you are sure to have found a real bug, file it and add it as "blocking" dependency to this bug, if it's severe.

ben, i notice in the patch you just landed that you refer to cookperm.txt. that file is deprecated and no longer used - the new filename is hostperm.1. perhaps you'd like to fix that? (also, how do you propose to keep the filenames in your new code synchronized with changes to other respective modules, such as has happened here?)

Is there any open bug that requests to transfer the profile using encrypted communication? Also removing some resolved bugs (apart from bug 124029, an important link), to clear the air for the remaining ones (sorry for the spam!).

Please add bug #249439 to the dependency list of this bug. Support of secure transfers is VERY important for roaming.

This bug is filed in a bugzilla component related to pre-Firefox code which no longer exists. I believe it is no longer relevant and I am therefore closing it INCOMPLETE. If you believe that this bug is still valid and needs to be fixed, please reopen it and move it to the Toolkit:Startup and Profile System product/component.
