User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.5; it-IT; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120121 Firefox/3.0.5
Build Identifier: 2.0.0.19 (20081209)
Right clicking (or ctrl-click) on a message, in the context menu to copy or move the message to a specific folder, in each folder's sub-menu there should be one option that enables to create a new sub-folder in that same folder, and that at the same time copies or moves the message there.
When you use the context menu on a message, in the Copy or Move section, after the option "copy here" or "move here" in the folders, there should be "Copy in a new folder" or "Move in a new folder" options in the same sub-menu.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Right click on a message to open the context menu.
2.Go to "Copy to" or "Move to" in the context menu
3.Browse the folders and select one.
Actual Results:
The options are missing
Expected Results:
After the option "copy here" or "move here", there should be "Copy in a new folder" or "Move in a new folder".

Yes, it seems so. With just one vote, it won't get better ...

Umm, sorry, the other one is a Seamonkey bug, so I suppose this is different.

Similar to bug 466247 - IMO filter definition and M/C To should be based on the same UI element.

See also bug 536533 for a more generic solution idea.

This would be very helpful addition, I really don't understand why this has been pending for years.

Apparently https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/quicker-filer/ allows something like this ...

Thank you Jens for sugesting an alternative. I have just tried the quicker-filer, however for the "allows something like this ...) you must type the full path including the account name from memory. I am sure there are some that can do this but not me or my users. Based on the history of this bug It looks like the functionality was lost some time ago. Sure would be great to have it back.
This looks like it should be merged with Bug 263032

No. There is auto-completion, and it works fine for me. Typing 3 or 4 significant characters usually suffices for me.
Best regards,
Jens

I saw this topic had to exist from a "Seamonkey" topic, and finally found it.
Based on "Steps to Reproduce" in the original post, here's what I would like to see:
Steps to Reproduce:
- Right click on a message to open the context menu.
2 .Go to "Copy to" or "Move to" in the context menu - Browse the folders to find a "parent" one.
- Confirm no appropriate subfolder exist yet
- Pick a "<New Folder>" option that would be next the parent folder name (that usually allow to copy/move into it)
- Fill the required information in the New Folder dialog (that usually is opened by the "new subfolder" option in context menu of folder display list), with the parent folder properly set according to the parent from where was triggered this.
- The new folder is created, and the mail is copied/moved into it.
I hope this can be considered.
