The cache & summaries directories will no longer be used once bug 758680 is in production. Bug 759313 is taking care of the in-tree remnants, however both prod and dev can have the ~/cache/ and ~/summaries/ directories removed to free up space. I'm not sure if there was any periodic cleanup of those directories occurring, or if they contain multiple years worth of leftovers! (I'd be curious to know how large they were before you delete them, if that's ok :-)) I'll post in this bug once bug 758680 has been deployed and we are ok to proceed. Thanks :-)

Webops will be making this push, easier for them to update/remove stuff too.

At least in the case of dev, you don't want to have cache/ nuked, because you know what's in there from looking at https://tbpl-dev.allizom.org/cache/ and you want more in there, not less.

Err whoops, short-term-memory fail :-/ I'd somehow gotten logs/ in my head for the logs from bug 730677. We should really be using something like logs/ though for the cron job output.

This is now good to go, since bug 758680 is now in production. Please may you: * Remove $SITE_ROOT/summaries/ on both tbpl prod and tbpl-dev * Remove $SITE_ROOT/cache/ on tbpl prod only (please could you check to see if any log output is being dumped there first) * Let me know the total size of files deleted from prod (just for my own curiosity) Thank you :-)

I don't know if this is expected or not, but on prod: [root@generic1.webapp.phx1 tbpl]# du -hcx summaries/ cache/ 4.0K summaries/ 4.0K cache/annotatedsummary 4.0K cache/rawlog 4.0K cache/parsedlog 4.0K cache/excerpt 20K cache/ 24K total It seems these are empty? I checked the admin node and 2 of the web nodes themselves... all the same. I checked the admin node and one of the dev nodes for /summaries/ as well... also empty. Marking this as completed, please reopen if there's anything wrong.

I meant to mention... I did remove the directories as described in comment 4, even though they were empty. :)
