Thunderbird crashes that don't produce crash report skipping - Bug 464372 - Crash when playing new mail alert sound (which sounds like an OS issue)

Same thing for me, but on Win2k: Using Thunderbird 2.0.0.23. Went as far downloading the last one from nightly builds. Issue started when I upgraded from an really old v1 to 2.x (Few Months ago) Subsequently never managed to get it work in the particular box (Win2k, SP4). Uninstalled, Del profile. Started from scratch. Installs. Asks me for profile, this vamooses. GONE. Starting it - it just goes away. Only thing that does anything is Thunderbird -p, which flashes a window on screen then exits - the first time it is run like this, if tried again, nothing happens (until machine is reset)... then the window flashes again. Thunderbird -c, consistently flashes a console window... then goes away. Upgrading to 3.x beta fixes it.

Hi Max. This bug is specific to version 3.x. But your issue sounds familiar, though I can't place it. Nice that your issue is gone with the beta.

I think you mean specific to version 2.x Yes, is good. Was a real pain that it did not work on that box

if http://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla_messaging/topics/thunderbird_crashes_nsimagecacheexception_on_launch_on_osx is not a fluke, then this may be happening in many cases of bug 547647
