requirements to branch for Gecko 1.8, meeting criteria:
    
*  Bugs required for Deer Park to be feature and string complete, with all l10n
and build system dependencies resolved, and with all major UI completed.
* No major bugs on the 1.8/1.1 radar that would be really painful to patch in
both places

I think bug 301804 should be on the list of blockers.

This tracking bug has been fully triaged.  Do not add any further dependencies
without permission.  We're locking down and closing the CVS tree on Thursday,
August 11th at 11:59PM, with the plan to branch for Gecko 1.8 on Friday, August
12th.

If you have a bug which should block the branch, please e-mail
drivers@mozilla.org with the justification ASAP.

I certainly hope you finally have fixed at least some of the hideous bookmark
behavior [including search {especially showing locations of results}, sort, and
at least more rapid scrolling if not adding column display].

A) Some things are not as simple as they look
B) Some things fall through the cracks and pushed over to the next release.
C) This is not the place for such discussions.
